Dr. Akhbar Salim is a highly skilled and accomplished urologist with specialized expertise in Uro-Oncology, Robotic Surgery, Renal Transplantation, and Advanced Laparoscopic Urologic Procedures. He is presently associated with Malabar Hospital, Calicut, Kerala, where he provides comprehensive and advanced care in the field of urology. Dr. Akhbar Salim completed his DrNB in Urology from the prestigious Medanta Medicity, Gurgaon (2019–2022), where he gained extensive training and exposure to high-volume and complex urological procedures. Prior to that, he earned his M.S. in General Surgery from Gauhati Medical College, Assam (2016–2019), and his MBBS from Government Medical College, Kozhikode (2008–2014). His academic journey has laid a strong foundation for his clinical and surgical expertise. Over the years, Dr. Akhbar Salim has served in several reputed institutions, refining his skills and advancing his clinical practice. He began his professional journey in urology as a Senior Resident at Medanta Medicity, Gurugram, one of India’s leading centers for urological care. He later contributed his expertise as Consultant at Almas Super Specialty Hospital, Kerala, and as Associate Consultant in Uro-Oncology and Renal Transplant at Aster Whitefield Super Specialty Hospital, Bangalore, where he also underwent advanced training in robotic surgery on the DaVinci X system under Dr. Sachin AN. Most recently, he has been serving as Associate Consultant at Aster MIMS Super Specialty Hospital, Kannur, before joining Malabar Hospital, Calicut. During his career, Dr. Akhbar Salim has performed and assisted in more than 1,500 urological surgeries, including over 100 laparoscopic donor nephrectomies and 300+ live donor renal transplants. His expertise extends to a wide range of procedures such as radical and partial nephrectomies, pyeloplasty, orchidectomy, cystectomy, urethroplasty, and advanced endourological procedures including TURP, TURBT, URS, RIRS, HOLEP, PCNL, and laser surgeries. His significant exposure to robotic-assisted surgeries—having participated in more than 50 robotic procedures—sets him apart as a surgeon with cutting-edge expertise. Recognized for his dedication to surgical innovation, Dr. Akhbar Salim has also been awarded the Certificate of Intuitive System Training Equivalency as Console Surgeon from Aster Whitefield Hospital, affirming his proficiency in robotic surgery.
