Dr George J Valooran is an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgeon with more than 12 years of experience in the field of adult cardiothoracic and vascular surgery. He is a committed and thorough professional with a strong academic background and a compassionate attitude. After completing MBBS from the prestigious Madras Medical College, he joined the Central Government Institute of National Importance JIPMER, Puducherry to train in General Surgery. He pursued his interest in Cardiothoracic Surgery post M.S by joining Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences briefly. He completed his super-specialty training from the National Institute Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Thiruvananthapuram. He then completed an Adult Cardiac Surgery Fellowship from Greenlane Hospital, Auckland, New Zealand where he got advanced training in Aortic work and Heart transplants. After returning India he worked with high volume centers like Southern Headquarters Railway Hospitals, Perambur, Chennai and started performing beating heart coronary surgeries. He was instrumental in setting up a successful Cardiothoracic unit in General Hospital, Ernakulam which was the first State run District Hospital in India to perform Cardiac surgery. He and his team in General Hospital, Ernakulam started off an active off-pump CABG program and performed minimally invasive cardiac surgeries (CABG and Valve operations through small incisions in the chest wall replacing the midline breastbone splitting operations). Dr George J Valooran is an accomplished academician with highly cited publications in National and International Journals. He has presented research papers in several National and International meetings. He has a keen interest in pursuing an academic practice of Cardiothoracic Surgery.
