Dr. Maria Joseph is a highly accomplished and dedicated consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist with over 11 years of clinical experience across premier tertiary care hospitals in India and Australia. She brings a wealth of expertise in managing critically ill neonates and children, particularly in level 3 NICU settings. Dr. Maria Joseph’s professional journey is distinguished by her rigorous training and hands-on experience in some of the best healthcare institutions in both countries, which have equipped her with a strong foundation in evidence-based paediatric and neonatal care. Dr. Maria Joseph completed her M.B.B.S. at Government Medical College, Kottayam, followed by an M.D. in Paediatrics from the same institution. She further enhanced her qualifications by earning a D.N.B. in Paediatrics from the National Board of Examination .She also holds super specialist degree in Neonatology (DrNB) from the prestigious Kanchi Kamakoti Childs Trust Hospital, Chennai. Followed it she has received multiple certificates including the certificate of advanced Neoresus from Australia.Her academic achievements reflect her commitment to advancing her knowledge and expertise in child health and neonatal medicine. Throughout her career, Dr. Maria Joseph has been involved in the comprehensive management of high-risk neonates, including respiratory care using non-invasive ventilation (HHHFNC, CPAP, NIPPV), invasive ventilation (conventional and hybrid modes), and HFOV, as well as the administration of inhaled nitric oxide. She has extensive experience in managing congenital pulmonary anomalies, complex congenital cardiac defects, pre and post-surgical stabilization of neonates, and invasive procedures such as umbilical, central, and arterial catheterizations. Her proficiency extends to therapeutic hypothermia for hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), surgical abdomen management including NEC, renal malformations, and long-term care for extreme preterm neonates. Dr. Maria Joseph’s experience in Australia at Perth Children’s Hospital, the largest tertiary NICU in Western Australia, further broadened her expertise. She managed neonates requiring high-frequency jet ventilation, treated congenital gastrointestinal anomalies such as gastroschisis and omphalocoele, and handled complex cardiac conditions like HLHS, TGA, and TAPVC. She also led multiple high-risk neonatal retrievals via road, fixed-wing aircraft, and helicopters as part of the Newborn Emergency Transport Service (NETS), earning “The Best Retrieval Team Lead” award for her exceptional leadership. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Maria Joseph is deeply committed to teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows.
