Dr Santhosh Kumar N

Dr. Santhosh Kumar N is a highly accomplished Head and Neck Surgeon and Surgical Oncologist with extensive experience in the surgical management of head and neck cancers, including thyroid, oral cavity, laryngeal, and hypopharyngeal malignancies. With a career spanning prestigious cancer centers across Kerala, Dr. Santhosh brings a wealth of expertise and compassionate care to his patients. He completed his MBBS and MS in ENT from the prestigious institution JIPMER, followed by a Fellowship in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology from the Regional Cancer Centre (RCC), Thiruvananthapuram. He has also undergone advanced training in CO₂ Laser Surgery for Head and Neck Cancer from the University of Tübingen, Germany, and holds a Foundation Course in Pain and Palliative Medicine as well as a Professional Certificate Programme (eMDP) in Business from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM). Before joining Aster Medcity, Kochi, in June 2023, Dr. Santhosh Kumar N served at leading oncology institutions including the Regional Cancer Centre (Thiruvananthapuram), Malabar Cancer Centre (Thalassery), Aster MIMS (Kottakkal), and MVR Cancer Centre (Kozhikode). Over the years, he has performed more than 3000 thyroid surgeries, demonstrating exceptional skill and outcomes in managing thyroid cancers and complex head and neck malignancies. His areas of special interest include thyroid cancer, oral cancer surgeries, laryngeal and hypopharyngeal cancer management, and reconstructive surgeries following cancer resection. In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Santhosh Kumar N has made significant academic and creative contributions. He has published over 20 scientific papers in reputed international and national journals and presented more than 15 research papers at major conferences. He is also an author, having contributed chapters on thyroid and head & neck cancers to various medical publications, and an editor, having led the magazine MVR Cancer Arogyam in 2023. Beyond medicine, Dr. Santhosh is a prolific writer and filmmaker. He authored two Malayalam books “iruvazhinjippuzhayude karayil” and “chattyakkante eracheem poratteem” and wrote numerous articles promoting cancer awareness in leading health magazines. His short film “Kamarunnisa”, depicting the story of a breast cancer survivor, earned a Special Jury Award in memory of actor Nedumudi Venu, showcasing his artistic sensitivity and commitment to patient advocacy through storytelling.
